Hon Umar Ibrahim, a supervisory Councillor for Agriculture in Mafia Local Government Area of Borno State and four others have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly stealing about 300 bags of rice which were donated by Danish Refugee Council to the Internally Displaced Person within the council.
Mr. Wilson Uuwjaren, the spokesperson of the agency confirmed the arrest while stating that the suspects were arrested based on intelligent report.
The other suspects include Bulama Ali Zangebe, Mody Bulama, Haliu Abdulahi and Abacha Ali some of which have disclosed according to Daily Post, that the Caretaker Chairman of Mafa Local Government, Shettima Maina directed that the bags of rice be sold to Alhaji Lawan Ibrahim of Bolori Stores and Yumar Salisu at the rate of 8,500 per bag.
