Shameful: APC Councillor Absconds With 300 Bags Of Rice From IDP Camp

Hon Umar Ibrahim, a supervisory Councillor for Agriculture in Mafia Local Government Area of Borno State and four others have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly stealing about 300 bags of rice which were donated by Danish RefugeeĀ  Council to the Internally Displaced Person within the council.

Mr. Wilson Uuwjaren, the spokesperson of the agency confirmed the arrest while stating that the suspects were arrested based on intelligent report.

The other suspects include Bulama Ali Zangebe, Mody Bulama, Haliu Abdulahi and Abacha Ali some of which have disclosed according to Daily Post, that the Caretaker Chairman of Mafa Local Government, Shettima Maina directed that the bags of rice be sold to Alhaji Lawan Ibrahim of Bolori Stores and Yumar Salisu at the rate of 8,500 per bag.

It is unfortunate that the Management of relief materials for camps set up for the Displaced people of North East occasioned by the activities the Islamist Terrorist Group, Boko Haram has been fraught by corruption since the inception of Buhari’s government.

Top government officials in the presidency like the Secretary to the government of the federation, Babachir Lawal have been named in the scandalous contracts to the tune of N200,000,000. Similarly, relatives of the president have also been name in corrupt dealings all in the name of supplying food and consumables to internally displaced Nigerians in the IDP camps and yet nothing has been done to curtail such activities.
